5-Day Integration Extension – April 11th to 16th
Our Integration Extension Retreat comes from what we have learned about the most effective ways to integrate the deep shamanic / ayahuasca healing since 2007. This is a new offering to support you even further on your journey of healing and self-discovery.
This special integration extension will add to and significantly support the shamanic healing that you will receive on the 12-day ayahuasca retreat. We will focus on your sense of empowerment and autonomy, sharing tools and practices that will enable you to author a life that is fully self-expressed, free of the stories of the past, and inspired by your soul.
We know well how challenging the integration process can be. We are deeply committed to supporting you in every way that we can and through the challenges that can arise following the deep healing that we provide on retreats. On this special integration extension, se will address the very specific challenges and opportunities that are most often presented during the acute phase of the integration process. What we often call ‘post-op’!
We are now offering a limited number of guests (max 10 people on a ‘first come, first served basis’) on the March 31st to April 11th retreat a very special Integration Extension Retreat.
This special program has been a dream of ours for several years and we are now excited to be able to offer this to guests who are planning to attend this particular ayahuasca retreat. This will be an all-encompassing experience where you will learn how to navigate the integration process with more tools, more clarity, and more support, all intended to help you create a new paradigm of your life filled with ease, presence, joy, growth, and inner and outer connection.
After your ayahuasca retreat, our Integration Extension offers you the opportunity to stay at the Temple for an additional 5 days, in a separate center from our main retreat center, yet still surrounded by the animals, medical plants, and trees of the jungle.
The 5-day integration extension offers the ideal scenario to experience the acute phase of your integration process whilst still feeling nourished, nurtured and cradled by the energies and rhythms of the Amazon and the Temple team before you return home.
What is the most important aspect of any transformational healing experience, like working with ayahuasca?
For most people, we have found that the following points are really the essence of integration and transformation:
- The ability to embody what you have learned about yourself (whilst working with ayahuasca) and how to incorporate and fully commit to new ways of being after you go back into the world and return to your “normal” life.
- To consistently experience the simplicity and ease of an unburdened and unencumbered self and life, without being constantly plagued by judgement (of self and others), inner struggles, doubts, and fears.
- To feel supported, safe, seen, and to continue this work as part of a loving community (that will inevitably become a group of close friends for long after your time in the Amazon).
We offer a specific integration program that has been designed to provide you with the very best support we know to help you to integrate the ikaros and medicines of our Shipibo healers.
After having been focused on your ayahuasca experience during the retreat, the extension offers you the chance to ground the healing you have experienced; to physically connect with this sacred, ancestral land, to take part in regenerative agroforestry and permaculture projects, and to plant ayahuasca and chacruna yourself.
You will have the opportunity to learn how the Shipibo prepare traditional plant and vapor baths with classes on the plants and preparations that they use for this sacred healing work. You can then take back these practices and adopt them using medicinal plants that are growing in your home environment.
We also offer a variety of classes sharing different practices held over the 5 days designed specifically to support integration of ayahuasca healing, including yoga, self-inquiry and breathwork.
Nourishing food will be prepared using local, organic ingredients (where possible) that are grown on our land by the Chaikuni Institute team, of whom you would get to meet and also have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with. There is nothing better than getting your hands stuck into the soil following deep working with ayahuasca!
You will leave the Integration Extension:
- With a new community of close friends
- Empowered to a variety of powerful tools and practices that will support your ongoing process of integration
- With a new understanding of the ways that you suppress or sacrifice yourself
- Inspired to approach your life in new, inspired and creative ways
If this is an opportunity that calls you, you would need to commit to being in the rainforest / at the Temple for a total of 17 days, over a two-part program:
Part 1: The 12-day Living in Alignment Retreat (March 31st to April 11th)- where we will be working with ayahuasca and many other medicinal plants in the traditional Shipibo way. (For more information please refer to …)
Part 2: The 5-day Integration Extension Retreat (April 11th to 16th) – will take place in our third center, which was specifically built for our sister non-profit organization, the Chaikuni Institute, on the Temple grounds, just over the hill from the Main Temple healing center yet completely isolated and separate from our healing retreats.
If you have the flexibility to stay on longer at the Temple following your 12-day healing retreat, then our Integration Extension is a powerful way to harness the unique opportunity you have straight after a healing retreat, overwriting and replacing old patterns and programs with new ways of seeing, listening and being that will serve you for the rest of your life.
Any surplus revenue from the Integration Extension will be donated directly to the Chaikuni Institute, also offering you a great way to support them and to take a stand for reciprocity in the Amazon (in the Shipibo language, this critical principle for living a harmonious life is called Akinananti).
Juliana Bizare – Senior Facilitator and Integration Specialist
Juliana’s first spiritual experience was a journey with Ayahuasca in the Santo Daime tradition, in Brazil in 1995. During this experience, a whole new world opened up to her, the world of the plants and their sophisticated healing powers.
A few years later she started travelling the world and learning about other ancient traditions immersing herself in dharma centers and ashrams in Asia and the USA, like Tushita Dharma Center in India, Kopan Monastery in Nepal and Spirit Rock in California. She also lived in a healthy community/ school in Brazil – the University of Light for a couple of years, where she graduated in Transpersonal Psychology.
She has also been deepening her knowledge of the Plants through Dieting different Master Plants with the Lopez Sanchez Family (Maestras Ynes, Laura & Maestro José), in the Shipibo Tradition.
For the past 20 years, Juliana’s true passion has been the study and integration of the Eastern practices of Yoga and Mindfulness into the work with Sacred Plant Medicines and different modern psychological approaches, with the focus on renegotiating our traumas and rewriting our own life narratives.
She has now supported hundreds of people before, during and after their medicine journeys. Through her own experience with the medicine, she has gained a clear understanding of the importance of the integration process.
To be able to support people in a more holistic way, she also trained in the Compassionate Inquiry approach with Gabor Maté and a 3-year training on Somatic Experiencing by Peter Levine, a powerful body-centred approach.
For the past seven years, she has been working as a facilitator at the Temple and also working online as an Integration Facilitator. Her goal is to empower people to feel safe in their bodies and integrate trauma and all different parts of our human experience, so people can have clarity on their path and purpose in life.
Maestra Teresa Rojas Toesta – Shamanic Healer
Teresa was born in the native community of Curarina. She is the mother of six children, two of whom are currently learning and practising medicine. Her husband Benito also works at the Temple as a curandero.
The catalyst to begin training to become an Onanya (a plant spirit healer) started when she needed to seek healing for her son, many decades ago. She took him to a ceremony with a powerful healer in a local community and was amazed at how effective the icaros and plant medicines were. Her son was healing completely. This inspired Teresa to then start the long and arduous process of learning to heal others herself.
She went to another local Shipibo community called Royaboya where her husband had begun dieting. They agreed for her to join him and learn together. She shares how in her first dieta she had a powerful experience from the plant she was dieting that lasted for three days straight, during which time she was met by the spirit of the plant who taught her many things.
She dieted/trained continuously with a variety of different medicinal plants over a period of about two years before she finally drank ayahuasca for the first time. As soon as she began to sing, the visions appeared and the teachings of her years of dieta (called sama in Shipibo – the medical school of the plant spirits) came through her icaros. This was around 22 years ago.
Since then she has been working mainly in her community. We are blessed to have been joined by Teresa in 2019 when she came to work for the Temple. She has a bright, happy and deeply caring character and is a powerhouse in ceremony!
Teresa will also be working together with three other Shipibo healers on the 12-day retreat from March 31st to April 11th. And will then stay on her own to support all participants on the Integration Extension, preparing plant baths and remedies, giving energetic massages, and sharing her wisdom.
What’s Included
During the Integration Extension Retreat, you will:
1. Experience daily yoga, breathwork and meditation classes – to support you with new tools and together create a simple set of daily practices that will inspire you to continue to embrace your integration process when you are back home. Integration can continue for up to a year after a retreat at the Temple!
2. Learn from a Shipibo healer how to prepare your own medical plant bath and also receive other special treatments from the Shipibo Maestros. In essence, we can say that ayahuasca is about cleaning and clearing not just the physical body, but fundamentally all that exists on an energetic and mental level; blocked, heavy energies, negative thought patterns, limited self-beliefs, and traumas.
However, these shadow elements, old energies and negative patterns often continue to be dislodged, released and come to the surface for 1 to 2 weeks post-retreat. Continuing the process of cleaning your energetic field with plant baths is one way to maintain the work done by the Shipibo healers. It is a very important practice in this tradition!
3. Collaborate with the Permaculture team from the Chaikuni Institute – get your hands dirty, give back to the (spirit of the) land, and support us and leave a piece of your energy at the Temple through planting medicinal plants including ayahuasca.
Working with your hands (when for many people, day-to-day life is often limited to working on a computer, in an office, surrounded by concrete and tarmac, immersed in a virtual, artificial and technological environment) can be a powerful way to still the mind and to generate positive energy that you then offer to gentle, spiritual action; reciprocating to the local environment, and cultivating the teachings, insights, and revelations in an embodied way.
4. Experience Art and Movement as medicine – explore different ways to express yourself and feel more deeply into what is arising within as the shamanic healing begins to settle, leaning into and developing more profound levels of trust in the plants, in yourself, and in Source.
Surrendering further to the process, patiently allowing whatever it is that is emerging, and having the space to truly listen deeply and hear what comes up can be challenging in the hustle and bustle of daily life.
5. Engage with Offerings and Gratitude Rituals – giving back to the spirits of nature and the Earth herself. We can often default to focusing on what we are getting, what we think we need, what we think we want, as opposed to Being in a state of acceptance and flow. Yet the more we focus on getting and doing, the more we reinforce a sense of lack, or not having enough. We will use the practice of offering, orienting to ‘what I can give’ instead of ‘what I can get’ as a powerful way to understand and appreciate our interconnectedness with everything and everyone and learn how to dissolve our limited and separate sense of self.
6. Experience Sharing Circles focused on exploring ways to integrate your experience with ayahuasca and the powerful shamanic healing work of the Shipibo. We support you with how to get clear about ‘what’ you are integrating, what themes you are working with, and what may be in the way still. What is self-love and how can we cultivate it? How can we forgive ourselves and others, letting go of the stories and pain of the past? How do we create a consistent sense of presence?
We will explore these themes, share new tools and practices, and support you in pro-deepening ways you may already have to focus on your integration process. We are also aware of how much we can learn from other people’s experiences, and the sharing circles offer the opportunity for everyone to share and support each other as a small community.
7. Receive regular one-on-one support from a highly experienced facilitator/integrator and a Shipibo healer. This will also be your chance to ask your questions!
